RESTORE Act Coordinator to Speak at August WRWF Luncheon

WRWF recently announced that Walton County's RESTORE Act coordinator, Billly Williams, will be the featured speaker for the WRWF meeting and lunch on Wednesday, August 19.

Mr. Williams will provide an update on Walton County's continuing environmental and economic response to and recovery from the Deepwater Horizon / BP oil spill. As a result of that tragedy, Walton County suffered significant economic losses, and will receive (along with 7 other counties) a total of $300 million in funds from BP.

Melinda Gates, Environmental Specialist/Coastal Resource Liaison for the Walton County Environmental Department, will also provide updates.

The RESTORE Act was passed by Congress to ensure that at least 75 percent of BP fine funds were spent directly in communities impacted by the spill.

To RSVP to attend the lunch, which will take place at 11:30 am (registration will start at 11 am) at Cantina Laredo, e-mail Barbara Brooke at bhbrooke@mchsi.com. The cost to attend is $22 per person (non-member) or $20 (member).
